When I first entered Luoba ethnic township, the first thing that attracted people’s attention was the long sword worn by the man. “Long swords and bows are important weapons and basic tools carried by Luoba men.” Zhaxi Yangjin, a member of the National People’s Congress and deputy mayor of Douyu Luoba Ethnic Township, Longzi County, Tibet Autonomous Region, told China.com reporters.

“The Luoba knife is purely hand-made, and its processing method and raw materials are different from that of the Tibetan knife.” Wang Ping, vice chairman of the CPPCC of Longzi County, Shannan City and secretary of the Party Committee of Douyu Township, told China.com reporters: “Wearing a long knife is not only to show the masculinity of men, but also because of the characteristics of the Luoba nationality’s hunting, which is convenient for hunting or use as a tool for life, such as cutting trees and building houses.”

In addition to the long knife, the Luoba man’s skills in using bows and arrows are also extremely superb and skillful, and bows and arrows are also one of the items that Luoba man cannot leave his body.

In 2016, Douyu Township was rated as an autonomous region-level ecological township. LuobadaoBabaylan is a regional cultural relics protection handicraft, and “Lubadao Dance” is also listed as a county-level intangible cultural heritage.
