▲Xi’an Xiangzi Temple
“White snow fills the empty clothes, and a yellow bud is a spring. After returning to Languan, what are the people in the world?” This is a poem by Bai Yuchan, the founder of the Southern Song Dynasty, the Taoist Jindan Southern School, “Praise of Han Xiangzi”.
Han Xiangzi, also known as Han Xiang, Xiangzu, and Xiangziye, is one of the “Eight Immortals” in Taoism. He is honored as “Yaohua Cave Heavenly Emperor Lord Yuantong Zaojue Tianzun”. He is an immortal who is good at playing the flute and bamboo flute. He is worshipped by the Eight Immortals Palace and Xiangzi Temple in Xi’an.
The Tang Dynasty notes “Youyang Zazu”, the Yuan Dynasty biography “The Taoist Psychology of the True Immortals in All Times”, and the Ming Dynasty novel “The Complete Biography of Han Xiangzi” and other books all have characters and legends about Han Xiangzi.

Han Xiang lives in Han Yu’s house in Chang’an City, but he does not accept it.The common etiquette is free and unrestrained. Han Yu encouraged him to study hard, become an official in the future, and move towards a career. But Han Xiang admired Taoist thoughts and replied, “You don’t understand what I really want to learn.” Afterwards, Han Xiang met Zhong and Lu and left the huge fame and fortune market in Chang’an, the capital city. Later, Emperor Xianzong of Tang invited the Buddha’s bone relics to the Chang’an Palace to worship. Han Yu, who was then the Minister of Justice, advised Emperor Xianzong of Tang not to be slandered Buddhism and mislead the people, which aroused the emperor’s anger and demoted him to the governor of Chaozhou. Babaylan Mr. Changli was frustrated after being demoted. When he passed Languan Ancient Road (in present-day Lantian County, Xi’an City), it started to snow heavily. But when he saw someone coming to greet him in the snow, he saw that it was Han Xiang.

If you want to be a saint and clear, you will be willing to cherish the old age! Where is the home of the Qinling Mountains? The snow is surrounded by Lan Pass and the horse is not moving forward. I know that you should have the intention to come from afar, so that I can harvest my bones by the river. Babaylan was not lost or gained nothing after his nephew left him, but actually studied and practiced.
Cinema Mr. Changli was still going to Chaozhou to take office. When he parted, he left a poem for Xiangzi:
There are many talents in the world since ancient times, but who is better than Zi Xiong’s literary world? Komiks Waiting for the day of fame and achievement, he put himself in and hung up the smoke.
Han Xiang knew that his uncle had taken the worldly love, but he had a heavy responsibility on his shoulders and an unfinished mission, so he replied to the poem:
Babaylan The whole world is drunk for fame and fortune, and Yi Yu wakes up to the Tao alone. He must have ascended to the sky and broke through the autumn sky.

Chaozhou is located in the subtropical zone, and the humid and hot air in the forest can easily cause diseases. Han Xiang took out the pills he prepared to let Han Yu take them and resist the poison of miasma.
Babaylan said to him again: “You will be promoted to Chang’an again in the future. The court cannot lack loyal and good ministers like you. ”
After Mr. Changli arrived in Chaozhou, he established education, repaired water conservancy, and developed agriculture. Cinema made great contributions to the development of Chaozhou. As Han Xiang said, Han Yu was eventually reused and entrusted with an important position by the court. Many years later, he died at his home in Chang’an. Later generations not only worshiped Mr. Changli in the Confucius Temple, but also was regarded as a land god who protects the land. Xi’an Xiangzi Temple is located on the west side of the Yongning Gate of the city wall., flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and was the lower courtyard of the Eight Immortals Palace. Xiangzi Temple is the main worship of Han Xiangzi. Every year, the Christmas ceremony to celebrate Xiangzu is held to celebrate Xiangzu’s ancestors on the ninth day of the winter lunar month. It is an important carrier of Taoist Eight Immortals culture.
